What comes to mind when I think of the K of C: Fantastic family of Catholic men serving the Church and Community through the lessons taught in all of the 4 Degree’s.  Group that also helps strengthen my faith.

K of C projects involved in: Way too many to list.  I’m the guy that puts his hand up to volunteer with most any project. Many times I hope this will get others to also raise their hand to help.  Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t

Why I am a Knight

By Kevin McKinney

I joined the Church in 1980 and a neighbor, Bill Kozisek, asked me to join the Knights.  I became involved with a few projects and knew I found an organization that would help me grow in my faith that was new to me and it excited me.  I remember each of my 4 Degrees. The lessons I learned in each one helped me to become a better Catholic, a better husband, and a better father to my 3 children.  I have been asked to join other organizations and while they are worthwhile, I get the most fulfillment from the Knights of Columbus.

This IS a Family Faith based organization.  Over the years, I have enjoyed meeting a lot of brother Knights and the sharing of our faith.  During my times as Grand Knight and then District Deputy, I had three children that also kept me occupied.  My children remember many times going to family outings with Knights.  Council & District activities, as well as State Family meetings meant I could be with my family and share time with brother Knights.  My children are all grown and have families of their own and we still talk about different things they enjoyed.  We also attended a Supreme Convention as a Family.  My wife Julie also enjoys these outings also as she has established many friendships with other women that also attend.  State Family meetings are like a home coming event.

I think that with this being a Family Faith based organization is what keeps me going with recruiting new members and the honor that I receive when conducting any of the 4 Degrees.  I just keep hoping that these members will get as much enjoyment in the Order and growth in the Catholic faith that I have received over the years.

I hope a member that reads this will get inspired to get involved and grow in their faith and family relationships.
